a tough break
人生不如意十之八九，商场不如意更是家常便饭。
这里的 break 不是我们平常所使用的折断或是骨折，
当作名词时我们可以用来形容运气、机会或是状况。
所以当有不好的事情发生时，或是遇到难题、难关时便可以使用这个短语！
【例句】
It is a tough break for the company that we still can't attract our target audience and boost the sales of the new product.
公司正在面临严峻的挑战，因为我们仍然无法吸引主要客群以及刺激新产品的销量。
a lucky break
a lucky break 则是和 a tough break 恰巧相反，用来形容有好事发生。
也可以用来指好运或是很棒的机会。
【例句】
The young woman got a lucky break immediately after graduation when she was hired by one of the best companies in Taiwan.
那个年轻的女人毕业后马上就得到很棒的工作机会，她被台湾其中一间最好的公司聘用。
a win-win situation
看到两个 win 了吗？没错，这就是所谓的双赢。
在职场上当公司和客户协调时，或是在报告展示时，这个用法极为常见。
【例句】
It's not realistic to have a win-win situation in this project if the two companies are not willing to compromise.
如果双方公司都不愿意妥协的话，这个专案想要有双赢的情况是不切实际的。
a zero-sum game
sum 的意思是总和，当游戏相加起来是零，也就是中文的零和游戏，
概念是双方只有一方会赢，不是你死就是我死，没办法有两边都获利的局面。
【例句】
If we choose to promote the new products, then we have to accept the possibility that the sales of our old products will decrease. We only have a limited budget to market. It's a zero-sum game in this case.
如果我们选择推销新产品，那么我们必须接受旧产品的销量降低的可能性。我们经费有一定限制，在这个案子中，这是个零和游戏。
a long shot
用来形容成功的机会渺茫，机率微乎其微。
或是与人打赌时，有很低的机率可以翻盘或是获胜。
【例句】
Despite the fact that the requirement of the position was master degree, Amy still wanted to give it a try. She believed a long shot didn't mean it was impossible.
尽管那个职缺要求硕士学历，Amy 仍然想要试试看。她相信机会渺茫不代表没有机会实现。
a safe bet
和 a long shot 恰巧相反，在这里用来形容非常简单、囊中取物的事情，
无须花费太多的心力，或是某件事情一定会发生。
【例句】
I bet her a safe bet to get promoted before the end of the year. Her performance is perfect and the boss speaks very highly of her.
我打赌她年底前一定会升职。她的表现很完美，而且老板高度赞赏她。
an uphill battle
uphill 是上坡的、向上的，而 battle 是战役、战斗，
光看这两个单词，是不是猜到它合起来的意思了呢？
没错，就是非常困难的事情。
【例句】
Undoubtedly, it was an uphill battle when he strived to convince all departments to cooperate for the new research and development of new products.
为了新产品的研究与发展，他努力说服所有部门共同合作，这无疑是个非常艰困的挑战。
a piece of cake
相信大家对于这个短语都不陌生，用来形容非常简单的事情，
是不是比 very easy 听起来更加有趣和进阶呢？
相同的用法有 duck soup、kid stuff，但后两个用法较为通俗，
不适合在重要场合使用哦！

David thought the evaluation model was complicated but it turned out to be a piece of cake for him.
David 以为这个评价模型很困难，但实际上对他而言只是小菜一盘。
