documentary / doco (n.) 纪录片

political documentary (n.) 政治纪录片

biographical documentary (n.) 传记纪录片

这部传记纪录片描述了 Eric Clapton 的一生。
observational documentary (n.) 观察型纪录片
这种类型的纪录片是希望模拟没有第三者的纪录者，
让观众身历其境地 "自行观察" 场景中的人事物。
因此，通常没有旁白、访问等，而是单纯透过摄影机的视角诉说故事。
【例句】
There aren't too many pure observational documentaries these days.
现在并没有很多纯粹的观察型纪录片。
expository documentary (n.) 阐释型纪录片
相对于观察型纪录片，阐释型纪录片透过旁白、采访等叙事方式，
阐述某个事实或议题观点，甚至试图说服观众理解导演的视角。
这也是最常见的纪录片形式。

He loves filming expository documentaries on this issue.
他喜欢拍摄关于这个议题的阐释型纪录片。
experimental documentary (n.) 实验式纪录片
凡任何艺术形式加上 "实验" ，简单来说，
就是不同于以往、尝试性、新颖的表现手法。
因此，当一部纪录片不隶属于上述任一分类，就可被称为实验式纪录片。

The junior director won the prize with his experimental documentary.
这位年轻的导演以他实验式纪录片获得奖项。
archival footage / stock footage (n.) 视频片段、素材
【例句】
It is an undisclosed archival footage from his elder sister.
这是一段由他姐姐保留的未公开视频片段。
feature film (n.) 剧情片；故事长片
指放映时间有一定长度的电影。
此长度标准会因不同区域、时间或制定机构而异，
短则需达 40 分钟，长则须达 75 分钟以上。一般而言，约为 90 - 120 分钟。

Feature films could portray the story in more detail.
剧情长片可以更详细地描绘出故事情节。
chronicle (v.) 记述，纪录（大事）
【例句】
The film chronicles the series of events that led to the corruption of the country.
