当你要试图用英语表达自己的产品有多好的时候，
是不是常常想不到具有说服力的词汇？
今天 Engoo 替你准备了七个很适合拿来陈述、写作的词汇，
不管是新科技还是新技术的应用，
都可以透过这些用法，让它听起来更厉害！

light-years ahead 遥遥领先
light-year 是一个距离单位，光是目前已知速度最快的东西，
光跑一年的距离就叫做一光年，
一光年大约是 9.46 兆公里 (9.46 trillion kilometers) ，
领先了这么多公里，可不就是遥遥领先吗？
【例句】
We believe our products are light-years ahead of the competitors.
我们深信我们的产品遥遥领先其他竞争者。
There is no doubt that Diane's excellent acting puts her light-years ahead of everyone else.
毫无疑问，Diane 精湛的演技让她领先群伦。
【补充】
- light-years away
light-years away 和 light-years ahead 看起来很像，
但意思却大不相同，light-years away 的意思指距今很久，
可以是 "很久很久以前" ，也可以是 "很久很久以后" 。
【例句】
The day we can control the weather is probably light-years away.
距离我们可以真正控制天气的那天还很遥远。
have an enormous impact on 对⋯⋯有巨大的影响
have an impact on 是好用的短语，
表示某事／某人／某物对⋯⋯会产生影响。
impact 前面可以放上各类形容词，像是：
- little impact 轻微影响
- big / huge / dramatic impact 巨大的影响
- serious / damaging / disastrous / catastrophic impact 严重、毁灭性的影响
- adverse impact 不利影响
- beneficial impact 正面、有益的影响
- environmental impact 对环境造成影响
- economic impact 对经济造成影响
【例句】
Long-term trade surplus has a serious impact on the domestic economy.
长期贸易顺超会对国内经济造成严重影响。
The new technology has an enormous impact on the future lifestyle.
新技术对我们未来的生活方式会产生重大的影响。
cutting-edge 尖端的、领先发展的
edge 的意思是 "边缘" ，cutting edge 是指刀锋、刀刃的意思，
但也引申为发展在最前端的、最尖端的，
多半用在研究、科技、医学等等领域。 cutting-edge 可以当作形容词，
而另外一个短语用法则是 "on the cutting edge" ，
意思都是 "尖端的、领先发展的" 。
【例句】
Cutting-edge technology required cutting-edge equipment.
尖端科技需要同样的尖端设备支援。
We built the lab for cutting-edge scientific research.
我们为了尖端科学研究建造了这间实验室。
state-of-the-art 最先进的、最新技术水准的
"state-of-the-art" 也是指最前端的、最顶尖的，
但更多时候常用来描述科技、产品的应用技术是最先进的。
【例句】
To develop state-of-the-art technology, the company decided to invest 3 billion RMB on the R&D department.
为了发展最新进的技术，公司决定要投资人民币三十亿在研发部门。
The theory he proposed is comparable with the state-of-art method.
他提出的理论可以和最先进的方法相提并论。
what the future holds 未来的模样
当你要试着向客户、台下的人描述前景的时候，
就可以使用 "what the future holds" 这个惯用语。
【例句】
We would never know what the future holds.
我们永远不会知道未来的样子。
They try to use big data to predict what the future holds for the personal computer industry.
他们试着用大数据去预测未来个人电脑产业的模样。
the shape of things to come 事物未来的模样
"the shape of things to come" 和"what the future holds" 有几分相似，
都是在说关于未来的一种可能，
差异在于 the shape of things to come 多强调 "未来事物可能（流行）的样子" ，
你可以将两者交替使用，避免同样的用法重复出现。
【例句】
It is impossible to know the shape of things to come in the mobile phone industry.
想要知道手机产业的未来是一件不可能的事。
The song pictured the shape of things to come.
这首歌描述了未来可能的样貌。
future-proof 面向未来的、防过时的
future-proof 是指面向未来的、防止过时的，
其中 "-proof" 这个词尾代表 "防止" ，相关单词还有：
- water-proof 防水的
- damp-proof 防潮湿的
- fireproof 防火的
- fool-proof 傻瓜也能用的
- bullet-proof 防弹的
- wrinkle-proof 防皱的
- air-proof 不透气的
- child-proof 儿童安全的
- sound-proof 隔音的
此外， proof 是名词，意思是 "防止" ，
它的动词型态是 "prove" ，同样意思也是防止。
【例句】
In the post-pandemic era, we need to learn some future-proof skills.
在后疫情时代，我们必须学习一些不会被时间淘汰的技能。
Do we really need a future-proof iPad?
我们真的需要一台永不过时的 iPad 吗？
