他们分别是什么意思，赶快来瞧一瞧！

put foot on the pedal 做事迅速
pedal 指的是汽车或脚踏车踏板，
put foot on the pedal 照字面意义解读成把脚放到踏板上，
也就是开车、骑脚踏车前进，
这句惯用语也可衍伸成在一件事情上加大力度、迅速行动。
【例句】
The president put his foot on the pedal for the old and poor people.
这位总统加大力度实行对老者和贫困人民的协助。
make a pit stop 中途停车、短暂休息
pit stop 可以指短暂停车加油、进厂检修，
也可以指长途旅程中的短暂休息，
所以下次长途旅程中短暂在休息站停留、上厕所，

a backseat driver 指手画脚的人
backseat：后座；坐在后座的人不负责驾驶，

你就闭嘴吧！别当一个一直指手画脚的人！
slam on the brakes 猛踩煞车
slam：重重撞上、砰地关上；brake：刹车。
因此 slam on the brakes 就是猛踩煞车的意思。
【例句】
The driver slammed on the brakes when a dog ran in front of the car.
驾驶在一只狗从车前跑过时猛踩煞车。
pull out of 驶离
pull out of 表示驶离一个地方，
通常用在驶离停车场或驶离停靠的路边，准备上路。

run a red light 闯红灯
run a red light 很容易从字面理解，就是指闯红灯的意思，
也可以说 drive through / jump a red light 。
【例句】
Don't run a red light! It's dangerous.
不要闯红灯！很危险！
tailgate 追车
tailgate 当名词其实是后车箱门的意思，
当动词使用则是表达开车时在后面紧追不放。
【例句】
The police car is tailgating the stolen car.
警车正紧追着那辆赃车。
