capital gains tax 资本利得税
capital gains tax (CGT) 是指 "资本利得税" ，
CGT 是税金的一种，专针对资本商品买卖获得的利润课税，
资本商品 (capital assets) 像是股票、债券、房地产、贵金属、珠宝等等。
资本利得税还可以分为长期和短期，
long-term capital gains tax 和 short-term capital gains tax 。
【例句】
The added bonus is free of income tax and capital gains tax .
额外的奖金不需要课征所得税和资本利得税。
The president suggested cutting the capital gains tax as part of the economic recovery from COVID-19.
总统建议削减资本利得税，作为 COVID-19 经济复苏的手段之一。

fiat 是一个正式的字眼，意思是（当权者的）法令、命令，
fiat money 则是 "法定货币" 之意，
货币依靠政府的法令，使其成为有购买力的货币，
该货币本身并无内在价值 (intrinsic value) 。
与 fiat money 相对的概念是 commodity money ，
意思是商品货币，本身具有内在价值，
像是铜钱、银两、金币等等。

inflation 通货膨胀
inflation 是指 "通货膨胀" ，
意思是货币的购买力随着时间下降，
像是过去你可以用一百块买到 30 只棒棒糖，
但现在一百块只能买到 20 只，这就是一种 inflation 。
与 inflation 相反的意思是 deflation（通货紧缩），
货币的购买力在一段时间内上升。

All attempts to control inflation have failed.
所有试着控制通货膨胀的手段都失败了。
If inflation stays elevated for too long, it can lead to hyperinflation .

在加密货币 (cryptocurrency) 的世界里，
有个持有者的交易态度是买进后长期不卖出，
在社群发布的文章把 “hold” 一直写成 “HODL” ，
因此后来大家把 "相信虚拟货币愿意长期持有" 称为 HODL ，
也有人解释为“hold one for dear life”。

G 是 governance 公司治理，包含商业伦理、竞争行为等等。
ESG 你也可以想像成 "永续投资" 。

“Environment, social, and governance are a set of standards for a company's operations that socially conscious investors use to screen potential investments.”
Dogecoin 狗狗币（多吉币）
在 2021 年的加密货币世界里面，
狗狗币无疑是一个热门且当红的议题。
Dogecoin 是加密货币的一种，大家多半称其为狗狗币，
在 2021 年受到人们的目光亲赖，大幅度疯狂增长。
一句英语解释 Dogecoin ：
“Dogecoin is a peer-to-peer, open-source cryptocurrency. It is considered an altcoin and an almost sarcastic meme coin.”

NFTs 非同质化代币
NFTs 的全称是 Non-fungible tokens ，
fungible 意思是 "易于交易的" 。
同值化资产你可以想像成 "货币" ，
每一个都有相似的外观与本质，因此可轻易被相互交换；
非同质化资产你可以想像成一些收藏品，
每一个都独一无二所以难以用同类资产相互交换。
而 NFTs 则是为艺术或数字资产提供独一无二的证明，
当一枚 NFT 被铸造出来后，可以在市场上买卖，
就像真实的艺术品那样，只不过场域是在网路世界，
并且因为有证明，可以保证其为真。
此外，哪怕我们都知道 NFTs 的中文是非同质化代币，
但没有人会这样称呼，大家都叫它为“NFT”。
一句英语解释 NFTs ：
“NFTs are cryptographic assets on a blockchain with unique identification codes and metadata that distinguish them from each other.”

short interest 空单余额
在金融市场里面，你会听到所谓的做多、做空，
做多就是买进并且期待它涨价，低买高卖，
做空就是买进并且期待它下跌，高卖低买，
而在英语里面，我们叫做多为 long ，做空为 short 。
而 short interest 是指空单余额，
也就是 "交易者借券卖出，仍未买回的总数量" 。

空单余额可以做什么？
因为做空的概念是先高价卖再低价买，赚取中间的价差，
所以会 "买" 的时候，一定是你心目中认为的低点，
如果说做空的人都选择不买回，表示大家认为这档股票还会跌，
市场上保持悲观 (pessimistic) 态度，认为其未达低点。
【例句】
Short interest on the stock is rising, suggesting investors are betting on further declines to come.
这档股票的空单余额持续上升，表示投资者赌它未来还会进一步下跌。
The results show that all the models cannot explain dynamic change of the short interest rate.
结果表明所有的模型都不能解释空单余额比例的动态变化。

“Short interest is the number of shares that have been sold short but have not yet been covered or closed out.”

conservatorship 监护
conservatorship 监护是法律上的用词，
意思是法官指定一个人去管理某人的个人事务，
包含财务或是日常生活，
多半是因为那个人未成年或被认定无行为能力。
负责监护的人是所谓的监护人 conservator ，
受到监护的人则称为被监护人 conservatee 。
