【常见错误】摆脱中式英语！感觉头痛不是 feel a headache，写日记也不是 write a diary！

将常见搭配词 (collocations) 的错误分成几类，
错误原因的前几名分别是：

这一篇的主题是 "中文的负面转移" ，
"中文的负面转移" 意思是因中文的用法和习惯，
我们下意识中译英，或许用中文语感听起来很顺，
但根本没有这种用法，只会让母语者一头雾水。
今天一共要带你看常见的九种中式英语错误用法。

提出申请＝raise an application？
"提出" 你可以使用动词 "submit" （提交），
所以提出申请应该是 "submit an application" 。
除了 submit 之外，也可以用动词 send in / file / make 喔！
【例句】
This document explains how to submit an application for the scholarship.
这份文件说明如何申请奖学金。
感觉头痛＝feel a headache？
不要因为中文使用 "感觉头痛" ，
所以就以为英语也是 feel a headache，英语里面根本没有这种用法！
headache（头痛）请搭配动词 "have" ，
感觉头痛是 "have a headache" ，
身体其他不舒服的症状也都请用 "have" 。
其他症状：
- have a headache 头痛
- have a sore throat 喉咙痛
- have a fever 发烧
- have a toothache 牙痛
- have a period pain 经痛
- have a stomachache 胃痛
- have insomnia 失眠
- catch a cold 感冒

喝汤＝drink soup？
中文当中，我们会说 "喝" 汤，
但在英语里面，到底可不可以用 "drink soup" ？
这要端看汤有没有料，
如果需要咀嚼，会用 eat（吃）当动词，
如果是单纯喝汤不吃料，则可以使用 drink，
但大多数时候我们还是用 "eat soup" 为主。
【例句】
She ate a beef soup that tasted just like it does at home.
她喝了一碗就像家里煮的牛肉汤。
吃晚餐＝eat dinner？
中文当中，习惯说吃晚餐／午餐／早餐，
但在英语里面，不会用 "eat" ，
而是用 "have dinner / lunch / breakfast" 。
【例句】
I had dinner with Frank last night.
我昨晚和 Frank 吃晚餐。
擦香水＝wipe perfume？
中文里，我们用动词 "擦" 香水，
但千万不要直接翻译成 "wipe perfume" ，外国人真的听不懂！
擦香水请用 "wear perfume" 或 "use perfume" 。
【例句】
Do not wear perfume, lotion, or make-up the day before surgery.
手术前一天不要擦香水、乳液或是化妆。
（没错！乳液、化妆都是用动词 wear）

大雨＝big rain？
big rain 听起来好像没什么问题？
实际上大错特错。
因为英语里面形容雨势大小不用 big / small，
而是用 heavy / light 这一组形容词。
所以大雨应该是 "heavy rain" ，小雨则是 "light rain" 。
（大雨也可以用 driving / pouring / torrential rain）
【例句】
We canceled the party because of the heavy rain.
我们因为大雨取消了派对。
写日记＝write a diary？
日记用 write（写）好像是一件很正常的事，
但其实完全不是这样！
写日记不是 write，而是 "keep a diary" 。
如果你要说将⋯⋯事写进日记，
可以说 write / note / record sth in my diary 。
【例句】
I have been keeping a diary since I entered high school.
我从高中开始写日记。
下订单＝make an order？
这绝对是跨国网购必学搭配词。
如果你也有使用过国外的购物网站的话，
你应该就会知道下订单不是 "make an order" ，
而是 "place an order" ！
除了 place 之外，你也可以用 "put in an order" 。
【例句】
I've placed an order for that coat.
我下单买了那件大衣。
存钱进银行＝save the money？
save 是存，money 是钱，
所以到银行存钱就是 "save the money" ？
但其实 save money 的意思是 "省钱" ，
存钱进银行是 "make a deposit" 。
【例句】
You need to make a deposit before five o'clock.
你必须在五点以前把钱存进去。
