Mum’s the word. 别说出去、一定保密
mum 可不是 "妈妈" 喔！
mum 这个单词最早来自莎士比亚 1592 年的戏剧《亨利六世》其中的一段话：
"Seal up your lips and give no words but mum."（闭上你的嘴巴，不要说话），
而 mum 这个字就代表沉默的意思。
【例句】
Daina：It's a surprise party for Tina. I didn't tell anyone except you.
Daina：这是为 Tina 准备的惊喜派对。除了你我没有告诉其他人。
Iris：OK, mum's the word！
Iris：了解，我一定会保密！
let the cat out of the bag 不小心泄密、说溜嘴
"let the cat out of the bag" 中文是把猫咪放出来，
这句话为什么会演变成说溜嘴的意思呢？
他的来源是因为以前在英国买卖猪仔时会将猪仔装在布袋里，
但不肖商人却用猫咪充数，等到买猪的人回家，
打开布袋后里面的猫咪跑出来，才惊觉自己受骗了。
后来 "let the cat out of the bag" 才演变成说溜嘴的意思。
【例句】
Amy is such a blabbermouth. She always lets the cat out of the bag.
Amy 真是一个守不住秘密的人。她总是会说溜嘴。
one’s lips are sealed 守口如瓶
seal 动词表密封，所以说话者把嘴巴密封起来就表示守口如瓶的意思，
相近意思的还有 "Your secret is safe with me." 。
【例句】
Don't worry. My lips are sealed. I won't tell anyone.
别担心，我会守口如瓶，不会告诉任何人的。
Keep one’s nose out of sth. 不过问、不要多管闲事
keep one's nose out of sth. 表示的是不要多管闲事，
当你希望别人不要再追问这件事（秘密）时，就可以用这句话回他。
【例句】
Keep your nose out of my personal affairs！
不要干预我个人的事！
keep it under your hat 保守秘密
keep it under your hat 中文是把东西放在帽子下藏好，
后来衍生成保守秘密的意思。
【例句】
Just promise me you'll keep it under your hat. Then I will tell you the truth.
向我保证你会保守秘密。那我就告诉你事实真相。
written all over sb’s face （情绪）写在脸上
这个表达方式想必大家不陌生，表示一个人不擅长隐藏情绪、秘密，把所有想法都表现在脸上了。
【例句】
Don't lie to me！ Guilt was written all over your face.
别骗我！你现在脸上都写满罪恶了。
spill the beans 泄漏秘密
spill the beans 原意是把豆子洒出来，用来形容秘密被泄漏的意思。
【例句】
Jackson spilled the beans, and our teacher decided to call our parents after knowing the truth.
Jackson 泄露了秘密，老师知道真相之后决定打电话给我们父母。
keep someone in the dark 把...蒙在鼓里
keep someone in the dark 让某人保持在黑暗中，
表示要把人蒙在鼓底，不让对方知道消息或秘密。
【例句】
Jimmy didn't keep the promise and let the cat out of the bag last time. I think we should keep him in the dark this time.
Jimmy 上次没有信守承诺、说溜嘴了。我想这次就别让他知道吧。
It’s between you and me. 这是你和我之间的秘密
It's between you and me. 这只在你和我之间，
表示的就是两个人间的秘密的意思。
【例句】
It's between you and me. I don't think Emma will accept Tom's suggestion.
不要告诉别人，我认为 Emma 不会听从 Tom 的意见。
