【商务英语】"I'll think about it" 其实是婉转拒绝？职场、商务必会的八个 "考虑一下" 英语说法

在职场或商务场合上，果决的能力固然非常重要，
但有时候谨言慎行、再三考量反而是更适合的作法。
这次 Engoo 就来和大家分享 "考虑" 的不同英语说法。

I’ll think about it. 我再考虑看看。
“I'll think about it” 算是最基本、最常见的说法之一，
不只在职场、商务之类的正式场合可以用，
日常生活中也会很常听到喔。
不过，当你听到这句话时，很大机率代表对方想拒绝你喔！
就好像买东西时，店员介绍完商品后，你觉得并不急着买，
所以可能会说： "我再看一下" 或 "我等等再来" ，
但通常就是直接走人，也不会真的再回去了。
所以，当你不想当场拒绝对方时，
也可以用 “I'll think about it” 来回应。
【例句】
Joan: Would you like to come to the seminar this Saturday? It's not mandatory, but I think it'll help you learn a lot.
你想参加这周六的研讨会吗？不是强制参加，但我觉得你在那边可以学到很多。
Noah: I might be busy that day, but I'll think about it.
我那天可能会很忙，但我会考虑看看。
I’ll think it over. 我会好好考虑。
“Over” 带有 "非常仔细地“ ”一次又一次地" 的含意，
所以 “I'll think it over” 就是指 "我会再三仔细考虑" ，
语气就和第一句的 “I'll think about it” 不同，
表达的是你真的会仔细考虑对方的提案。
【例句】
1. I would like to think it over, so I'll call you back tomorrow morning.
我想要再三仔细考虑考虑，明天早上再打给你。
2. Please think over what I said.
请仔细思考我说的话。
这个说法其实还有一个更口语的表达方式，
就是 “mull it over”。
【例句】
1. Have you decided yet?
你决定好了吗？
2. No, I'm still mulling it over.
还没，我还在思考。
I’ll think it through 我会仔细考虑。
“Through” 带有 "仔细地“ ”全面地" 的意思，
所以 “I'll think it through” 是指仔细地考虑所有可能性，
包含优缺点、机会成本等等。
【例句】
1. I'll have to think it through before making a decision.
做决定前我要仔细考虑清楚。
2. Let's think through all the pros and cons.
我们来仔细地思考所有优缺点。
I’ll consider it. 我会考虑一下。
“Consider” 应该算是大家最熟悉的 "考虑" 的说法，
也是指你会认真地考虑对方的提议。
更正式的用法为 “I'll take it into consideration”。
【例句】
1. We will consider your offer internally.
我们内部会再好好考虑您的提议。
2. Jane: I think we should start shifting everything online to meet the customers' needs.
我觉得我们应该要开始把所有东西都搬到网上，来满足顾客的需求。
Mike: You may be right. I'll take that into consideration.
也许妳是对的。我会好好考虑这个提案。
I’ll look into it. 我会再仔细思考。
“Look into sth.” 是指 "仔细调查" ，
所以 “I'll look into it” 是指我会好好分析所有面向（优缺点等等），
也就是 "好好思考" 。
【例句】
1. Can I get back to you tomorrow afternoon? I would like to look into it before making a decision.
我可以明天下午再回复您吗？做决定之前，我希望可以再仔细考虑清楚。
2. I heard there's an opening in the accounting department. You should look into it.
我听说会计部门有个缺。我觉得你可以考虑看看。
Let me sleep on it. 让我再好好想想。
“Sleep on it” 字面上意思是 "睡在上面" ，
可以想成整晚睡觉时都在思考，也就是 "仔细考虑" 的意思。
除了在商务上，这个说法也可以用在日常生活中，
像是当你朋友问你要不要出国玩时，
一定是需要时间考虑排假、花费等等，
“I'll sleep on it” 就会有 "需要一段时间考虑后再回复你" 的涵义。
【例句】
1. I'll sleep on it and get back to you tomorrow.
我会好好考虑，明天再和你说我的答复。
2. Let me sleep on it for a few days.
给我几天好好想想。
I’ll give it some thought. 我会好好考虑。
这句话其实就是 “I'll think about it” 的意思，
一样是用在当下没办法，或不想给出答复的时候，
但是语气比较正式，也就没有 "拒绝" 的意味，
就好像把 "我再想想" 说成 "我回去和家人讨论看看再过来" ，
听起来就是你在认真考虑，而非在婉拒人家而已。
【例句】
1. I'll give it some thought. I'll let you know by the end of the day.
我会再仔细考虑。今天前会给你答复。
2. I want you to give it some thought. I don't want you to miss this great opportunity.
希望你可以好好考虑。我不想要你错失良机。
It’s under review. 正在审核中。
“Under” 除了表示位置，也可以用来指 "（进行中的）状态" ，
而 “review” 除了当复习，也可以指 "审查" ，
所以“under review” 就是 "正在审核中" 。
当对方和你说这句话时，就有可能代表当下他也无权决定，
要等高层讨论完后才能给你答复。
【例句】
1. Tom: I was wondering if I could get some updates on my application.
我想询问一下我的申请进度。
Bill: It's still under review. We will get back to you once the decision is made.
还在审核中。做出决定后我们会马上通知您。
2. Your proposal is currently under review.
您的提案现正接受审核中。
