【英语写作】目击者宣称、研究指出、据报导等英语用法怎么写？

为了使报导更有信度 (reliability) 与效度 (validity)，
新闻媒体在撰写文章的时候，都会在行文当中加上信息来源 (source) 。
今天就要教你十种新闻英语里面，经常使用的 "标注信息来源" 的说法。
包含但不限于 "目击者宣称、研究指出、据报导⋯⋯" 等等，
让你可以在英语作文里面轻松应用！
之后接受采访时，他／她说⋯⋯
When interviewed afterwards, he / she said…
本句多半用于前面描述和某个人有关的事件，
而随后在采访这个人的时候，
他进一步强化此项说法，或是对此发表相反意见。
并且此一句型有多种变化形态可以应用，
像是：
- Interviewed afterwards, he / she said...
- When someone was interviewed afterwards, he / she said...
- When interviewed afterwards, he / she stated / mentioned / praised / ......
【例句】
When Amy Wu was interviewed afterwards, she mentioned that her Japanese teacher helped her finish the fabulous work.
随后在 Amy Wu 接受采访时，她提到她的日语老师帮助她完成这项出色的杰作。
When interviewed afterwards, he refused to say anything about the child.
在之后的采访里，他拒绝谈论任何和小孩有关的事。
Interviewed afterwards, she said the company would not hire candidates like him anymore.
在随后的采访中，她提到公司将不再录用像他这样的人选。
目击者（证人）指出／描述⋯⋯

- The witness described...
当你要撰写的事件有目击者，在行文的时候将他提出来再好不过了，
这种做法能大大提升你文章的可信度！
目击者的英语可以是"witness" 或"eyewitnesses" ，
你可以使用这样的句型表达目击者说了什么：
witness / eyewitnesses + 动词 (said / described / stated / indicated / praised......) that S + V
【例句】
The witness described the suspect as a tall woman between 25-30 years of age.
目击者形容嫌疑犯是一个年纪大约在 25 至 30 岁的高挑女性。
The witness continued by informing us that there was an ET in her farm last night.
目击者持续告诉我们昨晚她的农场有外星人。
Eyewitnesses highly praised his behavior.
目击者们高度赞扬他的行为。
拒绝评论／谈论⋯⋯
sb refused to comment / discuss…
经常许多明星、政治人物在面对采访的时候，会选择避开敏感话题。
但是选择不回答某些议题某种程度上也表明了立场，
所以有时候这依然是有报导价值的新闻点。
【例句】
She refused to discuss the matter.
她拒绝谈论这件事。
He refused to comment on the superstar's love affair.
他拒绝对超级巨星的风流韵事发表评论。
已有证据显示⋯⋯
There is evidence that...
某些时候，当你不方便指出消息来源，
或是在应试作文的时候想不起来是哪来的信息源头，
就可以使用 "There is evidence that S + V" 这个句型！
【例句】
There is evidence that under certain conditions, people with COVID-19 seem to infect others who were more than 6 feet away.
已有证据显示在某些特定情况下，患有 COVID-19 的人会感染六英尺外的其他人。
There is evidence that stress causes the disease.
已有证据表明压力会造成这种疾病。
研究指出⋯⋯
- The research found...
- The study showed...
当你非常肯定已经有相关研究证实你所要撰写的论点，
你就可以使用句型：
The research / study + 动词 (found / suggested / showed / revealed) that S + V
【例句】
No study has shown the increase of death rate is related to technical progress.
尚未有研究表明死亡率的增加和科技进步有关。
Some studies suggest that exercising is beneficial to longevity.
一些研究指出运动有益于长寿。
A recent research revealed the generation gap among the users of different social media.
最近一项研究揭露了不同社群媒体使用者之间的世代差异。
人们普遍认为⋯⋯

如果你需要描述一个世俗认定、普遍同意的事情，
不管你是要紧接著论述，还是发表反方意见，
你都可以使用 "it is generally agreed that" 句型。
【例句】
It is generally agreed that intelligence is innate.
普遍认为智力是天生的。
It's generally agreed that a carbon tax is the best way of disincentivizing fossil fuel usage.
人们多半同意碳税是抑制使用化石燃料的最佳方法。
发现⋯⋯
It was discovered…
如果你单纯要强调 "发现" 某事／时间／发现人，
那你可以用 "It was discovered..." 的句型，
它的重点是 discover 后面的东西，
如果你要强调发现某件事，可以用 that S + V 或 N，
也可以后面加介词，接上地点或时间。
【例句】
It was discovered that there are a variety of natural resources there.
已发现那里有各种天然资源。
The fact was first discovered in 1743.
这个事实在 1743 年首度被发现。
某某表示，⋯⋯。
S + V, sb said.
中文里面，我们会用 "医生说多吃水果有益身体健康" ，
而在英语里，
除了可以用 "Some doctors said that eating fruits is good for health." 外，
也可以说 "Eating fruits is good for health, some doctors said." 。
这一种把谁谁谁表明／某某说放到最后面、补充说明的用法，
在英语新闻里面也经常看到，
这种用法可以让读者聚焦于前面 "S + V" 的内容，
但同时又可以在句末清楚表明消息来源，
是一种可以把事情说得很完整的用法。
【例句】
Climate change could undo decades of work on increasing biodiversity, scientists said on the summit.
科学家在高峰会上指出，气候变迁可能让十几年来致力于增加生物多样性的工作付之一炬。 （间接引用）
"We will deliver a COVID-19 vaccine before the end of the year," the president stated.
总统申明， "我们会在年底前发放 COVID-19 的疫苗" 。 （直接引用）
※ 直接引用？间接引用？
直接引用 (direct quotation) 是指一字不漏引用说话者讲的内容；
而间接引用 (indirect quotation) 则是转述说话者的意思。

还谈到⋯⋯
She / He also spoke of ...
在一篇访谈里面，
不难看到 "○○○ 还谈到了她在高中的时光⋯⋯" 诸如此类的句子，
"还谈到了⋯⋯" 在英语里可以使用 "人also spoke of ..." 的句型。
【例句】
He also spoke of the government's goal of universal HIV testing.
他还提到政府的 HIV 普筛目标。
She also spoke of flexibility in social policy.
她还谈到社会政策的弹性。
Mandy also spoke of how different she is from her peers.
Mandy 也讲到她和她的同侪们有多不同。
（人）告诉记者⋯⋯
sb told our reporter...
在新闻里面，可以看见 "⋯⋯告诉记者 S + V" 这种用法，
好处是可以隐约表达这项说法的可靠性、取得的正当性。
【例句】
One of the killers told our reporter, " we have no choice" .
其中一名杀手告诉记者： "我们没有选择的余地" 。
The scientist told our reporter that there is a new virus that might be the cause of the disease.
科学家告诉记者，现在一种新型病毒可能是造成这种疾病的原因。
